Does How You Apply Skincare Actually Matter?

Application method changes the physical interaction with the skin. Whether those differences translate into meaningful long-term physiological or cosmetic outcomes depends on the method, force, frequency, duration, product and individual—and many of those comparisons have not yet been adequately studied.

That's not as catchy as saying, “This one method changes everything.”

But it's a much more interesting scientific answer.

Because application gives us measurable variables.

How much pressure is being applied?

How quickly is the tool moving?

How long does application last?

How frequently does it occur?

How much product reaches the skin?

How much stays on the applicator?

Does skin temperature change?

Does superficial microcirculation change?

Does tissue stiffness change?

Does elasticity change?

Does temporary facial puffiness change?

Do consumers perceive a difference?

These questions can be studied.

And ATA believes they should be.
